TONU/Detention
Truck Order Not Used (TONU) occurs when a driver is dispatched to pick up a load, but the load is canceled or unavailable upon arrival. Despite being ready to work, the driver doesn't end up transporting the freight. In these cases, the carrier typically charges a TONU fee to compensate for the time, effort, and fuel wasted in the process.

Detention Time refers to the period a driver is forced to wait at a shipper or receiver's facility beyond the agreed-upon loading or unloading time. If the wait exceeds a specified timeframe, usually around two hours, the carrier may charge a detention fee to cover the driver's lost time and income potential. Both TONU and detention time fees are essential for ensuring that drivers and carriers are compensated for delays or disruptions that affect their schedules and earnings.
